How can I add another photo to my wrapper? I want to spread them out and put text between them so I can't simply scan them both as one image.
The answer is pretty
easy if you have a graphics program that allows you to crop
a JPG graphics file.
When you crop a photo, you use a tool within a graphics program
that lets you select the area of the photo you want to keep
and remove the rest. Programs such as Adobe Photo Shop, Adobe
Illustrator, Coral Draw and many others have this capability
and much more. Unfortunately, they are also fairly expensive.
If you don't already have a graphics program you can get
a simple but FREE photo editor from Hewlett-Packard.
OK. Now that you understand how to crop and you have a graphics
editor that will do the job, here's all you have to do.
- Start MyWrapper Platinum and select your wrapper type
and graphic background.
- Bring in your first photo image either from a file or
by scanning as you normally do.
- Move and resize the photo so that it's exactly where you
want it and is the final size you need. Once you go to the
next step, you will not be able to change the size or location
of the first photo. (Tip: Save the project at this
point before going to the next step so you can repeat the
process from this step if you need to resize or move the
photo and will only find out much later in the process).
- Export the wrapper (File > Export) as a Jpeg file selecting
the highest resolution and a scale factor of 1.
- Open your graphics program and load the Jpeg file you
just saved.
- Crop the graphic to remove the top "white space"
where the glue is normally applied. At this point you can add additional photos using your graphics program or you can do it in MyWrapper Platinum.
- After finishing the previous step, save your file
- Return to MyWrapper Platinum and click on the "Open"
button in the "Select Background Design" section.
Select the cropped Jpeg file, e.g., two_photo_wrapper.jpg.
Your wrapper will look just like it did in Step 3. The difference
is that the design, including the first photo and any additional photos you added, is now all
part of the background.
- If you did not add additional photos in your graphics program you can now import another photo as you normally do and
move and size it as desired.
That's it. You can now add the text you want and you are
finished. If you need to add more than two photos to your
wrapper, simply repeat steps 3 through 9 as many times as
needed.
I can't read the manual. How do I get a copy of Acrobat
Reader?
To get a free copy of the Adobe Acrobat Reader, click on
the Adobe icon following this answer. When you get to the
Adobe site, look for the Downloads heading and click on
the "free Adobe Reader" link.
What kind of paper do you need for the wrappers?
You can use the standard 20 pound printer paper that you
normally use with your color printer. We recommend the
higher brightness (about 105 to 113 brightness) paper
for a slightly better appearance. You can find this at
your stationary store in a 500 sheet ream. It's normally
a 24 pound paper. We also find that pastel or other colored
paper suitable for your color printer can also be used
with great results. A number of our customers have recommended
Hammermill OfficeOne Business gloss. It is about a 32
pound paper with a 94 brightness and comes in 300 sheet
reams.
What kind of graphic files can I import to put on
the wrapper?
You can directly import .JPG, .GIF and .BMP files for
either the background or as the inset photo/graphic.
Most digital cameras produce .JPG files. These may be
used without editing. You can also import a .JPG or
.BMP file to be the entire wrapper background with MyWrapper
Gold.
Where can I get a good cutting board to cut out
the wrappers?
We offer high quality cutting boards from Carl Manufacturing.
You can see them in our store
area. These cutting boards are particularly good
because they feature a replacable rotary blade. This
type of cutter totally eliminates the safety hazards
associated with the guillotine types of cutters.
Will MyWrapper work with the new Windows XP
system?
Yes. MyWrapper and MyWrapper Gold will work
with Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows
2000 and Windows XP.
What kind of program is this (Lotus, etc)?
MyWrapper and MyWrapper Gold are stand-alone
software programs and do not need to have any
other program installed on your computer. They
have their own built-in set of graphics and databases.
Can you edit the graphic designs?
No. The graphics are all copyrighted and cannot
be modified. However, the graphic, photo or
logo you choose to add to a wrapper is your
own and may be modified as you see fit.
How easy is it to import graphics from
another program?
You can import any .JPG, .GIF, or .BMP directly.
If you have your graphic in an .AI, .PSD,
.EPS or other format simply open the graphic
in whatever program you normally open it with.
Then save it to the clipboard, got to MyWrapper
Platinum or MyWrapper Gold, click on Edit
and select your choice to paste it as a background
or as an inset photo/graphic.
Does MyWrapper include templates for
all candy bar sizes?
MyWrapper produces wrappers for the Ghirardelli
1.25 oz, Ghirardelli 3.0 oz, Ghirardelli
3.5 oz, Hershey with almonds 1.45 oz, Hershey
standard 1.55 oz, Nestle Crunch 1.55 oz,
Mr. Goodbar 1.75 oz and any other candy
bar having physical dimensions close to
these. It also has Kit Kats 1.5 oz,
miniatures, Life Savers, a number of nutrition
and other bars and a utility for designing
a wrapper for any bar you may wish to use.
Does MyWrapper include cut lines?
The only cuts needed with MyWrapper
are around the outside of the wrapper.
Cut lines are printed at the corners
for your convenience.
What happens if I place a graphic
or text on my wrapper design and then
change my mind about either the candy
bar I'm using or the design I have selected?
Should you decide to change the wrapper
design or the candy bar, all graphics
and text which you have entered are
preserved and subsequently displayed
on the new selection. The only way to
lose the information is to close the
design without first saving it.
How many graphics and suggested
sayings does MyWrapper currently include?
MyWrapper Platinum and MyWrapper
Gold come with over 300 graphics
and 1,000 suggested sayings. New
graphics are available to add to
the program.
How do I use MyWrapper if the
occasion I want is not listed in
the drop down list?
There are numerous categories
not assigned to specific occasions.
You can use any design from these
categories or in fact any design
from any category for any occasion
you wish, listed or not. For example,
you could take a design listed
for Birthday and use it for Confirmation
simply by entering the text suitable
to a confirmation. One of our
customers, for example, used a
design from the Anniversary collection
for favors for their wedding reception.
Am I allowed to use your software
and sell the wrappers or candy
with the wrappers?
There are no restrictions, royalties
or other fees required once you
have purchased our software. You
are perfectly free to create and
sell your wrappers with or without
the candy. The only thing we ask
is that you leave the original
manufacturer's wrapper on the
candy as they have told us that
this ensures that the candy will
always have the ingredients available
and protects the flavor and quality
of the candy. Your wrapper paper
will not qualify under FDA guidelines
for barrier paper for use with
food products.
I get an error message when
I first start MyWrapper after
installation. How do I fix this?
This has never been a problem
with MyWrapper Platinum or
MyWrapper Gold. Occasionally
we hear of this problem with
our older program, MyWrapper
(now discontinued), particularly
with Windows 95 and 98. The
solution is fairly straight
forward: Right click on the
MyWrapper shortcut on the
Desktop and select delete
to remove the current shortcut.
Use Search on your Start menu
to find MyWrapper.exe. It
should be in C:\Program Files\MyWrapper
Right click on MyWrapper.exe
and select Send To > Desktop
(create shortcut) In addition,
it is very likely that the
shortcut in your Start | Programs
menu is also corrupt. First
check it by clicking on the
MyWrapper icon in your Start
| Programs menu and see if
you get the same type of errors.
If you do, here is the fix
for this problem. Click Start,
Programs, MyWrapper. Right
click on the MyWrapper icon
and select delete. Answer
Yes to send the shortcut to
the Recycle Bin. Click Start,
point to Settings, and then
click Taskbar & Start Menu.
Click the Start Menu Programs
tab. Click Add, and then click
Browse. Select MyWrapper.exe
from the C:\Program Files\MyWrapper
folder, and then click Open.
Click Next, and then find
the MyWrapper menu and double-click
on it. Type MyWrapper in the
space provided and click Finish.
It is unlikely, but if Windows
prompts you to choose an icon,
click one, and then click
Finish.
Why is the MyWrapper website
printed on the completed wrapper?
MyWrapper was created for
individuals wanting an easy
way to create their own
favors. By including our
web address and copyright
notice we were able to consider
this as a part of our advertising
budget and thus sell the
software at a considerably
lower price than if we were
selling a software tool
to candy wrapping professionals.
Just consider the several
hundred dollar investment
required to obtain the privilege
of purchasing partially
printed wrappers from other
companies and you quickly
see what a bargain MyWrapper
is. To our surprise many
customers have turned out
to be professionals. In
response, both MyWrapper
Platinum and MyWrapper Gold
provide the means to remove
our copyright information.
What printer should
I use?
You may use any color
inkjet or laser printer.
I can't see the "Print"
button in Step Four on
MyWrapper. What do I need
to do?
Your screen resolution
is too low for MyWrapper
and needs to be increased.
To fix the problem right
click on your desktop,
select Properties and
then the Settings tab.
Drag the slider for the
resolution (or screen
area) to the right to
the next larger setting.
Click on Apply and then
OK. Return to MyWrapper
to see that this worked.
If the Print button still
cannot be seen, repeat
this process. You will
not need to use a resolution
greater than 1024 by 768
pixels.
How many wrappers
will MyWrapper
Platinum or MyWrapper
Gold print on
a single sheet of
paper?
The number of wrappers
that can be printed
on a sheet is determined
by two factors. The
first is the size
of the wrapper. The
second is determined
by how close to the
edge of the page your
printer is capable
of printing. On most
printers, MyWrapper
Platinum and MyWrapper
Gold prints two
Hershey standard wrappers
or 15 miniatures on
a sheet of paper.
If you cannot print
this many, try to
find a setting to
reduce the margin
for your printer.
This should be explained
in your printer manual.
If there is no setting
for reducing the margin,
contact your printer
manufacturer and see
if they have a more
recent print driver
which would allow
you to print closer
to the edge of the
page.
How do I make
sure I have the
latest version of
MyWrapper Platinum
or MyWrapper Gold?
First make certain
you are connected
to the Internet.
Start MyWrapper
Platinum or MyWrapper
Gold and click
on "START A NEW
WRAPPER" to open
the main screen.
If you are in the
middle of creating
a wrapper, save
your work before
continuing. Click
on "Help" on the
Menu Bar and then
click on "Auto Update
From The Web!" If
a later version
of MyWrapper
Platinum or MyWrapper
Gold is available
a message will appear
on the screen asking
if you wish to update.
Click OK and the
update process will
automatically begin.
At the end of the
installation process
you just click to
let the program
restart. There is
no need to restart
your computer so
you need not worry
about other programs
you have running.
When trying
to export as a metafile,
I keep getting the
error "Canvas does
not allow drawing"
When I export as
a metafile wrapper
or sheet, without
getting an error,
the file ends up
corrupt with the
right portion on
the left and the
colors reversed.
What can I do?
This problem is
associated with
older operating
systems such as
Windows 98 and Windows
ME. It will go away
when you upgrade
to Windows 2000,
Windows XP or whatever
the next release
of Windows is called.
It is a consequence
of how the Windows
operating system
allocates resources.
How do I use
